Selected from hundreds of submissions, Lee O. Pendergraft of Cadence Group will
present a session on “Portable Data Storage Devices: Impact on Records Management
and e-Discovery”
ATLANTA, GEORGIA – September 25, 2007 – Cadence Group®, an information and records management firm based in Atlanta, Georgia, is pleased to announce that Lee O. Pendergraft, Senior Practice Partner and Certified Records Manager (CRM), has been selected by ARMA International, the Association for Information Management Professionals, to present a poster session at the 2007 ARMA International Conference and Expo on October 7-10, 2007 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Poster sessions are more informal and interactive than other educational sessions. R. Scott Murchison, also a Senior Practice Partner and CRM for Cadence Group, will facilitate these sessions with Pendergraft. Together they will facilitate a discussion of strategies, best practices and methods to counter the challenges created by the proliferation of portable data storage and transmission devices – including personal e-mail devices such as Blackberries, PDAs, cellular phones, electronic lab notebooks and non-network laptops.
Even companies that think they can avoid this issue by not authorizing use of the technology can benefit from this session – because the technology is surely in use whether or not companies sanction it. The session includes tips on how to educate the work force about minimizing associated risk. Participants will have an opportunity to meet and discuss their e-Discovery, compliance and technology concerns with records and information management (RIM) experts.
“We are looking forward to speaking on this strategic topic,” stated Cadence Group CEO and President, Tina Baker. “Lee and Scott have a wealth of experience with records compliance and the associated technology issues. Both have implemented numerous RIM programs, policies and procedures including the electronic records retention and electronic communications policies that address portable devices.”
As the premier event in the RIM industry, ARMA ’07 will draw over 4,000 professionals to the show floor. More than 200 of the industry’s leading vendors will be available to demonstrate the latest RIM products and services and answer questions. The Expo also offers popular education sessions for effectively managing information. This year the focus is on the practical application of technologies, strategies and techniques with emphasis on managing collaborative technologies, litigation readiness, data security, RIM in the organizational audit process, change management, records retention and best practices.
