Federal provider will inventory carbon footprint; measure sustainability efforts

Atlanta, GA – February 9, 2012 – The Cadence Group, Inc. was one of forty-six small businesses to complete the first year as a participant in the Federal Supplier Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Pilot Program. The program, launched in August 2010 by the GSA, works with other government agencies such as the EPA to assess the feasibility of requiring GHG emissions inventory as part of the federal supply chain.

The Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Pilot requires not only a three-year commitment, but a pledge to make every effort to demonstrate regular, consistent progress toward meeting significant long-term emissions reduction goals. Upon acceptance into the program, companies are asked to complete an extensive inventory of their current energy usage and identify areas for improvement. Once the inventory is complete, GSA recommends each organization pledge a minimum of 2% reduction over the first 12 months. These pledges are then made public on the EPA website.

“Since we already embrace this mission, participating in the pilot program was a perfect fit for us,” said Saira Raza, program coordinator at the company. “This program provides us with tools to measure our impact and set clear goals, adding even more structure to our efforts. We also have the opportunity to be part of a community of other small businesses that share the same values, which helps us come up with new ideas and stay accountable.”

“I am personally committed to sustainability, and it is a key tenet of our corporate philosophy,” offered Tina Baker, President and CEO at Cadence Group. “We work with clients to find innovative solutions to critical information management issues. We are thrilled to be on the cutting edge of corporate green initiatives and help our clients reduce their carbon footprint associated with records and electronic information management.”
