At a February 19, 2004, CHI*Atlanta event Tammy Roundy, Chief Taxonomist for Cadence Group, explained the value of good content classification in a presentation entitled “The Role of Taxonomy in Information Architecture: Structuring Information for Usability.” The presentation covered what a taxonomy is, gave examples of how a taxonomy helps improve usability by structuring information, and reviewed the process of developing a taxonomy. CHI* Atlanta is a forum for people who share a common interest in how humans interact with computer technology.

On May 21, 2003, Ms. Roundy presented a similar topic, “The Role of Taxonomy in Content Management” to members of Technology Association of Georgia (TAG). TAG brings the technology community in Georgia together through events, initiative programs and networking opportunities.

Similar information was presented to Internet audiences in January 2004 via a Webcast titled “Seven Signs You Need a Taxonomy.”
