It is a new year, and time to highlight once again all the wonderful library resources and services that your patrons may not be aware of. Perhaps you have gotten some new subscriptions, or are planning to launch a new service that you can announce. You can also re-brand and re-package many of the services you currently have giving them a fresh, new look to help to revive interest.
Some of the ways to do this are:
- In a company or organization newsletter
- In a library blog or other blogs the library has access to
- On the library website
- Through library info updates as brown bags
- Attending departmental meetings as a guest
If you have a blog, or a publication that is released company-wide, you can write up a blog piece or announcement reminding folks of all the services and resources you offer. This can even be broken down into parts if there are a lot of resources or services to highlight.
If you haven’t already, the beginning of a new year is a good time to write up a marketing plan not only for this year, but looking five years out. Same with a new five-year strategic plan. Once finished, meetings can be set up with the management team to go over the plans and then roll them out to library staff.
Some of the trends in marketing for 2015 include:
- Mobile marketing
- Content marketing
- Visual storytelling
- Human storytelling – authenticity is the new currency of trust.
- Look to reach new audiences
Get your 2015 started off right by trying out some of these ideas!
