For a federal health agency’s speaker’s bureau, we were able to limit costs by leveraging a knowledge management application Cadence Group previously developed for the agency to create a tool for tracking speakers, requests for speakers and a knowledge-base of available presentations. This internal tool was updated to use ASP.Net and integrates with a publicly available web form to capture requests for speakers. The database facilitates and documents communication with the requester and enables the Office of the Director (OD) to get detailed statistical and graphical reports of activity. The tool enables OD staff to expedite the fulfillment of speaker requests and the reporting provides the top management of the agency keen insight to this valuable public service.
