CEO Tina Baker successfully steers Atlanta-based records and information management firm through 20 years of economic upheavals

ATLANTA – December 2, 2008 – Cadence Group®, a woman-owned records and information management (RIM) firm based in Atlanta, marks its 20-year anniversary this month. This longevity is a tribute to Tina Baker, co-founder, president, and CEO, and her 50-person staff.

Cadence Group uses a team approach to managing its over 50 professionals and paraprofessionals, striving to promote diversity in the workplace and cultivating an environment that encourages sharing and collaboration, trust, and teamwork as well as personal growth and job satisfaction. Each employee is committed to providing the highest quality service to clients.

“Managing electronic information and protecting records may not sound very exciting,” says Baker, who helped open the doors of Cadence Group two decades ago, “but any CEO will tell you that managing electronic communication records is one of the critical challenges in corporate America today. Every day we help clients avoid potential records compliance penalties and e-discovery costs (which can run into the millions of dollars), reduce records storage costs by 30 to 50 percent, and protect vital records for business continuity in the event of a disaster.”

Cadence Group has been able to grow and prosper through uncertain economic times by offering flexible, cost-efficient solutions that help clients easily obtain and manage information tailored to specific needs.  Whether clients need electronic records managementresearch, or a virtual or physical library, Cadence Group provides the necessary StaffingConsulting, and Managed Services .

Because the company does not endorse or resell any products, its consultants are able to recommend solutions that best fit the client’s information needs – while leveraging the client’s existing technology. “What also sets us apart,” Baker said, “is that Cadence Group works with clients to organize all their information around corporate taxonomy and business classification schemes. By organizing their information and implementing information management policies, companies are able to improve productivity by as much as 30 percent, reduce unnecessary costs, and protect their intellectual property.”

Cadence Group’s clients range from Fortune 500 companies and large government agencies to professional firms that manage massive amounts of information. Many of Atlanta’s top employers use Cadence Group’s services. Among the firm’s clients are telecommunications, healthcare, financial, transportation, manufacturing, and energy companies, law firms, and federal and state agencies.

The firm’s current client list includes:

  • Alston & Bird LLP
  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta
  • Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
  • Georgia Department of Archives and History
  • Georgia-Pacific LLC
  • Industrial Developments International, Inc. (IDI)
  • Kilpatrick Stockton LLP
  • McDermott International, Inc.
  • Murray City, Utah
  • Solvay Pharmaceuticals
  • Sutherland
  • The United States Attorney’s Office – Northern District of Georgia
  • Turner Broadcasting System, Inc

To mark this milestone, Cadence Group is making donations to The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy in lieu of holiday gifts to clients. Each quarter in 2009, the company will participate in a philanthropic event, starting with Habitat for Humanity in the first quarter. “The business community has been good to us,” said Baker, “and we want to show our appreciation by giving back to the community through philanthropic projects.”
