Strengthening Cadence Group’s ability to help government and business organizations improve records management compliance and retention processes for documents, e-records, and other storage media

ATLANTA – November 28, 2006 – Cadence Group®, an information and records management firm based in Atlanta, is pleased to announce that Lee O. Pendergraft, a Certified Records Manager (CRM) with more than twenty-eight years of experience in the records and information management field, has joined our team of 50 information professionals.

Pendergraft is an internationally recognized CRM consultant and advisor with deep experience implementing records management (RM) programs, developing retention schedules, writing RM policies and procedures, implementing RM solutions and training, and handling administrative and operational services. In recent years, he has developed special expertise in electronic records retention, including e-mail management.

His past consulting engagements include working in a variety of government and industry sectors such as finance, healthcare, energy, consumer packaging, consulting, automotive, and manufacturing. Government clients have included the U.S. Departments of Education, Treasury, Interior, Justice, Environmental Protection, and Energy, as well as NASA and the Federal Home Loan Bank. Commercial clients include Deloitte & Touche, Mitsubishi/ Caterpillar, HealthMark, HCA Hospitals, Southern Peru Mining, Toyota Motors USA, Charles Schwab Financial Services, and Dole Foods, plus numerous national and international legal and accounting firms.

During his career, Pendergraft has worked on projects and systems involving over 75.5 million cubic feet of inactive paper records, more than 3 billion active documents and at least 19.5 million electronic records. Contributing to the success of his client’s objectives, he has helped many or these organizations achieve an average long-term cost reduction for their RM programs of between 20 and 30 percent.

Pendergraft graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Thomas University in Miami. His professional contributions include developing industry courses and teaching at Community Colleges, as well as speaking and facilitating numerous workshops at both national and international professional conferences and meetings.

He served as Chairman of the Consultants’ Industry Action Committee for the Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA) International, as well as on several chapter boards and national committees including ethics, educational development, competencies, electronic messaging, and guidelines for records storage contracts. He has also served as a board member and Executive Vice President of the International Records Management Council (IRMC) and is active in the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM).

In addition to publishing articles in both domestic and foreign professional periodicals, Lee has received several honors, including a Special Achievement Award from the National Register of Historic Places and National Landmarks programs in the Department of the Interior. Of particular distinction is the ARMA Britt Literary Award, which he shared with Dr. J. Michael Pemberton, from the University of Tennessee, in 1990 for development of the information management industry’s first model for a Code of Professional Responsibility.
