What We Do
Cadence Group’s five-phase methodology utilizes the Project Management Institutes (PMI) process groups and techniques. MS Project and SharePoint are used to manage our projects and a continuous cycle of monitoring and control is used to ensure successful execution of each phase.
The Cadence Group team integrates Lean Six Sigma Methodology with technical standards (e.g., ISO 15489) and best practices in Records & Information Management (RIM). The integrated methodology enables a more comprehensive information management approach than traditional business process re-engineering projects via the addition of compliance assessments, information architecture and lifecycle management of the data and information associated with the business process. SIPOC is a data collection form that is used before we start to construct a process map. SIPOC (Suppliers, Inputs, Process, Outputs, and Customer), a high level view of the state of a process, is a data collection form that is used before we begin to construct a process map.
Cadence Group adopts and integrates “Industry Best Practices” on two levels. Our methodology is based on strategies from the Project Management Institute (PMI), Lean Six Sigma, Software Engineering Institute (SEI), Knowledge Management Consortium International (KMCI), Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM), The International Board of Standards for Training, Performance and Instruction (IBSTPI), Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM), Federated Enterprise Architecture Certification Institute (FEAC), American Productivity and Quality Center (APQC), and Information Mapping Inc.
The Cadence Group team follows the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology, as well as the CDC’s Enterprise Performance Life Cycle (EPLC) methodology, to ensure development of a high quality system that meets or exceeds expectations and reaches completion on schedule and within budget. Phases include:
- Preliminary Analysis
- Systems analysis, requirements definition
- Systems design
- Development
- Integration and testing
- Acceptance, installation, deployment
- Maintenance
Cadence Group web designers and developers support our clients by managing website rollouts, updates and maintenance. For example, we’ve supported The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) since 1995, where we’ve maintained over 42 websites across multiple offices and divisions. At CDC, Cadence Group manages many distinct websites via multiple contract vehicles including the CDC Information Management Systems (CIMS) 10 year IDIQ contract and the GSA Schedule 70. Cadence Group provides cost-effective, superior Internet/intranet design & development, maintenance and support. Cadence Group uses a range of graphics and web development tools, including various Enterprise/Web Content Management Systems, Adobe Creative Suite, Beyond Compare, CSS, XHTML and JavaScript.
Cadence Group staff perform ongoing daily maintenance to websites, posting updated and expanded content, updating links, and creating graphics. This content is also reviewed to ensure web compliance and mitigate legal risk by adhering to all agency-wide web and communications policies such as overseeing updates on published content and fully adhering to 508 compliance. Cadence Group also expands the reach of offices by using tools such as WordPress and GovDelivery to produce Blogs and E-Newsletters while including widgets and social media feeds. Our staff analyzes data and reports on web statistics to advise the client on tools and SEO trends in order to expand viewership. Cadence Group utilizes tools such as Adobe & Google Analytics, Omniture, Foresee, Userzoom, Altmetric, GovDelivery Reports, and Twitter Analytics.
Although most people associate compliance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 with website development, the Section actually applies to many technologies. Our methodology for addressing Section 508 compliance for applications is based on the technical standards for user interfaces, keyboard interfaces, and web page layout defined in the Section 508 Guidelines.
Cadence Group objectively consults on the selection of information management products including Document Management, Contract Management, Records Management, Archiving, Web Content Management Systems (CMS), Enterprise Content Management (ECM), Search and Discovery, Information Security, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

How We Do It
As your organization’s goals adapt to changing industry expectations, so should the technology and applications you rely on to achieve those goals.
Cadence Group possesses the IT know-how to deliver efficient, affordable systems solutions. We work closely with our clients to understand the context in which their businesses operate, analyze the processes and define requirements, and consider how existing technology can be leveraged. Next, Cadence Group objectively identifies and evaluates commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products that can achieve our clients’ goals and conducts a cost/benefit analysis of these products versus developing and maintaining a custom solution.
If a decision is made to design a customized solution, Cadence Group offers the systems design, development, and the continuous business process improvement needed to support a successful implementation.
Examples
Cadence Group designed and developed a web-based application system to support a Public Health Program. The solution enabled high quality, consistent and timely response to queries from the public.
Cadence Group conducted an independent and thorough Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) resulting in the recommendation of the most favored Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application.
A Fortune 500 company hired us to develop strategic plans and manage the enhancement of an Oracle database. We implemented an end-to-end knowledge management repository system. The solution supported automatic categorization and delivered browse and search access to aggregated telecom content.
